International Women's Day

Christine Panchuk

International Women's Day began over a century ago, with the first gathering held in 1911. It is a day of recognition that celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and girls all over the world. People from different cultures, religions, and backgrounds come together to fight for gender equality and women's rights.

From the pioneering scientist Marie Curie to women's suffrage leader Susan B. Anthony, it's no doubt that women have made incredible contributions to society. Teachers, doctors, mothers, or even next-door neighbors; there are movers and shakers everywhere that keep this world moving forward.

Let's take a moment to think about the women in our lives. From friends to family, co-workers to acquaintances; there are pillars of strength in every community that strive to make the world a better place one person at a time. We all know someone who enriches our lives and inspires those around us.

Tell us about that special someone! Who are you celebrating today, and how have they made such a profound impact?
