Snack: Make Ahead Camp Oats

Putting together the dry ingredients for this recipe at home means that breakfast is ready instantly while at camp.

  • 3 cups large flake oats
  • ¾ cup brown sugar or sugar replacer like Splenda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup raisins (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)
  • ½ cup hemp hearts, flax seed, chia seeds (optional)

Directions for Preparation

  1. In a large plastic zipper bag, add all the ingredients.
  2. Seal.
  3. Place the sealed bag in a plastic container to protect against moisture and critters.
  4. When ready to eat, fill half a mug or bowl with oats and half with boiling water. Let sit for 10 minutes.
